OUR FLAVORS
Our uniquely flavored cheeses are the best tasting around, because we carefully and thoughtfully, combine the outstanding, natural qualities of our select cheeses, with the best natural ingredients available. Our flavor ingredients generally come from gourmet food ingredient suppliers and have been selected from a variety of venders. We have avoided using the flavorless dried herbs which are so commonly used in flavored cheese.
GROWTH HORMONES
All of the milk used in our cheeses, comes from cows which have not been treated with rBGH (synthetic growth hormones). Each farmer whose milk we use has pledged to not use these hormones on their cows. Our cheese maker feels strongly that, not only does this milk make better cheese, but it is also healthier for both the people and cows. The position of Sugar River Cheese Co is anything which is good for both people and cows are good for us.
OUR KOSHER CERTIFICATION
Our cheeses our certified as kosher by both the Chicago Rabbinical Council (CRC) and OK kosher (OK). This means that all of our ingredients are inspected and certified as kosher and the cheese making, cutting, and packing is supervised. We take the extra effort for this certification simply because we can. We use the best of everything in our cheeses and our cheese making is done only through traditional methods which lend themselves to kosher supervision. Our goal is to provide the highest quality and best tasting cheeses possible and what better way to convey this then with a food certification standard which has existed for several thousand years.

ENJOYING OUR CHEESES
Our cheeses have wonderful characteristics to be appreciated. Their appearance is both unique and attention getting. The colors are vivid and one can almost taste the richness of our cheese with their eyes. Our cheeses combine a deep natural cheese flavor with wonderful herbs, spices and ingredients, whose essence complement each other, as well as, other foods. Because these are traditionally made, natural cheeses, they possess traits common to fine cheeses. The textures are just as you would expect from a quality product, firm but gives easily when cut. The cheeses have outstanding cooking and melting qualities. Their flavors remain when heated and added to other foods. Our cheeses used in any number of tradition cheese dishes add another dimension of flavor to theses dishes.
Because of the strong flavors of our cheese, they tend to go better with the dryer wines. We have enjoyed them with reds such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah or Pinot Noir. Our resident Champagne drinker likes them with especially dry Champagne. They say that cheese tastes best with other foods from their region, well, we are not sure if this is always true, but our case it certainly is. In addition to cheese, Wisconsin is known for beer and our cheeses are wonderful with locally produced lagers, ales and stouts.
